High-end drum makers Gretsch Drums have announced new for 2007 the G-4000 Metal Series snare drums. Building on the former 4160 Metal Series snares, the G-4000 snares offer a larger size spectrum, and a spun brass shell. Other features include Ligtning throw-off, top and bottom die-cast hoops, center knurl pattern ‘Snap-In’ key holder, classic Gretsch ‘Drop G’ octagon badge, Permaone coated top/clear bottom heads and 42-Strand snare wire (24 wires on 13″ drums).
The Gretsch G-4000 Metal Series snare drums come in many shell options including Chrome over Brass, Solid Aluminum, Solid Steel, Hammered Chrome over Brass, Hammered Copper and Spun Brass. A 6DBL, 8DBL or 10DBL lug configuration and finishes like Polished Chrome, Antique Copper, Black Chrome, and Polished Brass insure that the Gretsch G-4000 Metal Series snare drums are top notch in the world of snare drums. No word on price, but these don’t strike me as being very budget conscious snare drums.
